3-star hotel in the Kabukicho entertainment district, steps from Golden Gai and Shinjuku Station

Location

Citadines Central Shinjuku Tokyo sits directly in Kabukicho, the main entertainment area of Shinjuku, and is an 8-minute walk from Shinjuku Station. The hotel is a 4-minute walk from Shinjuku-Sanchome Subway Station and a 5-minute walk from Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. Guests have immediate access to Golden Gai nightlife district, shopping malls, and hip local dining options on the same block.

Rooms

All rooms are air-conditioned with double-glazed windows for noise reduction and include an LCD TV, safe, and tea/coffee maker. Guests can request an air purifier and a DVD player at no extra charge. Room sizes vary from compact studio doubles to larger twin-bed club rooms on the 14th floor, and some bathrooms offer a separate bathtub and shower.

Dining

The on-site Cafe-Restaurant Stella serves international dishes and regularly features a chocolate fountain and all-you-can-drink wine arrangements. A 24-hour convenience store (Lawson) is located in the same building. Several excellent ramen shops are tucked just behind the hotel, and a 7-Eleven is steps away.

Services & Amenities

The 24-hour front desk is staffed by bilingual personnel who assist with luggage storage, currency exchange, and luggage forwarding. A coin-operated launderette is available on the 7th floor, and rental computers and free wheelchair use are offered at no extra charge. A self-service coffee machine in the lobby provides free espresso-based drinks 24 hours a day, and water and ice dispensers are on every floor.

Entertainment & Nightlife

The hotel's location on the main strip of Kabukicho places guests directly in front of Golden Gai, a historic area of over 50 tiny themed bars and karaoke venues. The surrounding streets are packed with clubs, late-night eateries, and arcades such as the crane game shops noted by guests. Safety is maintained by 24-hour security, CCTV in common areas, and key card access to all room floors.

Acceptable Location, Noticeable Issues

cramped room unsettling area
The location proved convenient. It was easy enough to get around the area.
The room felt quite cramped. Not ideal if you have much luggage. (I barely had room to open my suitcase!) I also found the surrounding area a bit unsettling at night. The street activity made me slightly uncomfortable.

Fantastic Stay!

laundry facility helpful directions convenience stores high-speed internet
The hotel has a useful laundry facility. Staff provided very helpful directions and assistance . I found it easy to reach the nearby convenience stores (7/11 and Lawson) and a nice British pub (very convenient). The free high-speed internet performed well.
The hotel has old carpets in the rooms and hallways, so it doesn't always feel perfectly clean.
Rooms
9/10
The room includes a comfortable bed and a nice shower and bath, which I really appreciated after a long day. The daily cleaning service ensures fresh sheets and towels without needing to ask. A water and ice dispenser is available on each floor, convenient.
Location
10/10
This location is very central. Shinjuku nightlife spots are within a five-minute walk. A supermarket operates 24/7 right beneath the hotel (very handy, I thought). It is less than ten minutes on foot from East Shinjuku Station exit.
Service
9/10
The staff provided excellent service. I found them friendly and helpful. The hotel offers a coffee station in the lobby. This hotel also provides luggage shipping service, which I utilized to make my travels easier.
