Six Brunton Place Guest House - A restored 1825 William Playfair Georgian townhouse with garden views and luxury amenities

Located in a historic Georgian building designed by William Playfair in 1825, this 5-star EDI hotel features original marble fireplaces, ornate cornices, and a 30-foot cantilevered stone staircase. Six Brunton Place Guest House's rooms offer modern amenities including underfloor bathroom heating, free WiFi, and flat-screen TVs, while maintaining authentic Georgian color schemes and period details. The property serves freshly prepared breakfasts with options ranging from full Scottish to vegetarian and vegan dishes. A guest lounge provides complimentary refreshments and wines. The property sits 9 miles from Edinburgh Airport with direct tram and bus connections.

Pros

Beautiful walled garden with outdoor seating

Home-cooked breakfast using locally sourced ingredients

Guest lounge with fireplace and complimentary wines

Personalized local recommendations and booking assistance

Cons

1-mile distance to Waverley Train Station

Limited on-site parking available

“The Georgian townhouse exudes an old-world charm, from its elegant furnishings to its quiet garden-though I did see one review mentioning a less-than-ideal room size. Breakfast receives high marks for its range and quality; the location also strikes a nice balance, near enough to Holyrood Palace and other highlights. Overall, it seems a distinctive and well-regarded choice.”

Really good hospitality and comfort!

Our room, a Beautiful Double or Twin Room Garden View, was spacious and clean. I appreciated the attention to detail in the room's furnishings. Breakfast was lovely (especially the croissants!), and having the option to leave our bags after check-out was a great help.
The Wi-Fi signal in our room was weak. This made it difficult to handle some work tasks. The host acknowledged the issue, so hopefully, it will be fixed soon.
