The room included complimentary port. The breakfast offered many choices and constant refills (i really liked the pastries). The hotel provided backgammon in the comfortable lounge.
The elevator looked a bit old. It needed manual opening.

helpful staff lactose-free options complimentary port daily refill
the staff was helpful and made reservations when i requested. the breakfast staff was accommodating, preparing lactose-free options for my dietary needs. a complimentary port wine in the room was a nice touch, it was refilled daily .
the television offered a limited selection of channels during my evenings.

limited fruit inconsistent staff
The breakfast was disappointing. the cooked items were not fresh. there was limited fruit available and little choice of cereal. the staff seemed inconsistent. Sometimes they were helpful, other times indifferent, noticeable! the plants on the balcony needed better care.

american adapter breakfast service late check-out
the staff were helpful. i appreciated the american adapter provided for my devices, it aided charging. breakfast extended until 12:00 pm, i found it convenient. a late check-out at 1:00 pm suited my travel plans well.
i found the water pipes quite noisy. this was a little disruptive.

small safe bulky key
the safe was an archaic contraption requiring a physical key i had to borrow from reception it was also too small for my laptop what a joke. the room key was another blast from the past a bulky thing i couldn't even keep in my pocket i reminded me of i was back in the dark ages. frankly i expected a bit more modernity given the supposed elegance of the place
