202 Elizabeth - Art Deco Boutique Hotel with Rooftop Terrace and Garden Courtyard in Sydney CBD

Located in the Surry Hills district, this 5-star Sydney hotel features 38 soundproofed rooms and suites across six stories. The rooms include flat-screen TVs, air conditioning, work desks, and private bathrooms with walk-in showers and free toiletries. Selected accommodations offer balconies with city views, while suites provide additional seating areas and bathtubs. 202 Elizabeth maintains a 24-hour front desk and features a shared lounge, sun terrace, and a private courtyard garden with outdoor seating. The property sits 1 mile from Hyde Park Barracks Museum and the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Key attractions within 1 mile include the Australian National Maritime Museum and Darling Harbour.

Pros

Dog-friendly property with specialized pet amenities and services

Rooftop terrace offers panoramic views of Sydney CBD

Art Deco-inspired design with individually crafted spaces

Garden courtyard provides a quiet retreat from city noise

Cons

5 miles distance from Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport

Limited on-site dining options

“What strikes me most is the intimate scale-only 38 suites-allowing for a tailored experience, which seems ideal for luxury travelers. The art deco design in Surry Hills adds character, and the rooftop terrace presents a compelling spot for relaxation. Though some have noted minor inconsistencies, the pet-friendly approach is undeniably a standout amenity.”

The staff was helpful, I got an early check-in. I REALLY appreciated that.
The room was smaller than it looked in photos. There was space for just one bedside table. The air conditioning WAS loud and the room smelled stale, almost like someone smoked there.
