The Guild Hotel, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel - A century-old YMCA building transformed into a boutique hotel with historic details and modern amenities in downtown San Diego
Located in downtown San Diego's historic Armed Services Building, The Guild Hotel features original architectural elements including high ceilings, tilework, and exposed brick walls. This reimagined San Diego hotel offers a European-designed courtyard and Grace Garden for outdoor events. The property includes a modern fitness center with Peloton cycles, strength training equipment, and a 1000-square-foot workout space. The Guild Bar serves locally crafted beverages amid marble tabletops and velvet furnishings. Guest rooms come equipped with Smart TVs, complimentary Wi-Fi, and local artwork. Pros
Original 1924 basketball court transformed into the Grace Ballroom for events
Historic features preserved including 30-foot ceilings and rose gold chandeliers
24/7 valet parking service available
Multiple dining options between the Guild Bar and courtyard breakfast service
Cons
$56 nightly parking fee
4:00 PM check-in time may be later than some guests prefer
“The Guild distinguishes itself with a savvy blend of historical grandeur and modern design, reimagining a landmark YMCA building into a stylish downtown retreat. Its location places guests within easy reach of San Diego's vibrant Gaslamp Quarter and Little Italy, while inside, the hotel's original architecture, including high ceilings and exposed brick, feels both grand and intimate. I think the unique event spaces, once a basketball court and pool, add a layer of intrigue that few hotels can match.”
