Pros
Daily complimentary wine reception featuring regional wines and cheese
On-site Spencer Café serves house-roasted coffee and fresh breakfast
Room service available from adjacent Cheryl's on 12th restaurant
Historic property that once hosted Louis Armstrong and Sammy Davis Jr.
Cons
Standard Queen rooms have interior windows facing the breakfast area
Parking is limited and costs $32 per night
“The Mark Spencer Hotel strikes me as a solid choice for visitors who want to explore Portland's Pearl District. I noted the wine and cheese social in the late afternoon, a thoughtful touch. I think its proximity to Powell's Books and other cultural sites makes it especially appealing.”

I recently spent a couple of nights at this hotel, and overall, it was a pretty good experience. The room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast options were decent enough to get us started in the mornings. However, I didn't love that our room faced an interior wall, which made it feel quite dark. The staff was friendly and accommodating, but I would have preferred more variety in the dining options. All in all, it's a great place if you're looking for a convenient stay in downtown Portland.
