Hotel Mondial - 19th Century Opera District Rome Hotel with Business Facilities
Located in Repubblica district opposite the Teatro dell'Opera, this four-star Rome hotel occupies a 19th-century building between the Basilica of St Mary Major and the Church of Saint Susanna. The property features air-conditioned rooms equipped with satellite TV, minibars, private bathrooms, and complimentary WiFi. Hotel Mondial provides a lavish buffet breakfast in a spacious area adorned with trompe l'oeil artwork depicting fruit bowls in pastel colors. Two dedicated meeting rooms accommodate up to 20 persons on a separate floor. The property includes a business center, 24-hour reception, and a lounge bar hosting daily Happy Hour with Italian wines and cocktails. The Mondial stands less than 10 minutes from Roma Termini station, with Via Veneto and Via Nazionale within a 5-minute walk. Surrounding streets house numerous restaurants, including La Matriciana, La Cucina Nazionale, and Ristorante Zeus all within 0.3 miles.
Pros
Located in the historical Repubblica district, home to premier opera performances
Separate floor dedicated to business facilities ensures quiet meeting spaces
Daily Happy Hour features special pricing on Italian wines and cocktails
Trompe l'oeil artwork adds unique character to the breakfast area
Cons
2 miles distance to St. Peter's Basilica
Limited room sizes in some units
βThis hotel occupies a historic building, placing guests near the Teatro dell'Opera and the Rione Monti neighborhood. While some aspects require updates, the convenience of being a short walk from Roma Termini and having access to meeting rooms makes it a practical choice. I believe the daily happy hour and rich breakfast buffet enhance its appeal for both business and leisure travelers.β
