Magnolia Hotel Downtown Dallas - A landmark 1922 high-rise with modern amenities in Dallas' Historic District

Located in a restored 29-story building from 1922, Magnolia Hotel Downtown Dallas preserves the historic charm of the former Magnolia Petroleum Company headquarters. This downtown Dallas hotel features 325 rooms across its soaring 400-foot structure, which was the city's first air-conditioned high-rise. The property offers more than 8000 square feet of event space, including eight meeting rooms and the Pegasus Room. The iconic Pegasus, a neon red horse, illuminates the Dallas skyline from atop the building. Guests can dine at The Lounge restaurant, serving contemporary American cuisine. Located near Thanks-Giving Square and the Dallas Holocaust Museum, the hotel provides easy access to the Dallas Convention Center and American Airlines Center.

Pros

Historic art deco architecture with preserved vintage details and modern updates

Prime location in Dallas' Historic District near major attractions and corporate offices

The Pegasus Room event venue features hardwood floors, chandeliers and LED lighting

Signature suites offer 650+ square feet with full kitchens and separate living areas

Cons

Valet parking costs $45 per night

Located between busy downtown thoroughfares which can create street noise

“There's a sense of faded grandeur here; the bones of this historic building are good, and the location places you squarely in the arts district. While some may find the interiors a bit tired, others will appreciate the hotel's pet-friendly policy and the convenience of being steps from Dallas' cultural heartbeat. The rooftop Pegasus is a landmark, but be prepared for potential waits and occasional service hiccups.”

Excellent location and service

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The older architecture of the hotel was charming. I loved the location since it was close to the convention center (very handy for my meetings). There were many restaurants within walking distance that served great texas food.
I noticed the hotel feels a bit neglected with the furniture looking a little tired, showing its age.
