Admiral Fitzroy Inn - A historic B&B in Newport's waterfront district with 18 uniquely decorated rooms and harbor views

Located in the heart of Newport's bustling waterfront district, this 2-star Newport hotel features 18 individually hand-painted guestrooms across three floors. Each room at Admiral Fitzroy Inn comes with a private bathroom, mini-fridge, tea kettle, air conditioning, and cable TV. Two rooftop rooms offer whirlpool tubs and semi-private decks overlooking Newport Harbor, while select accommodations include additional daybeds. The property serves a complimentary continental breakfast buffet from 8-10 AM in the sunny dining room with Thames Street views. Popular restaurants like The Mooring, Brick Alley Pub, and Bouchard's are steps from the front door. The property stands 0.3 miles from The Elms mansion, 0.5 miles from Bowen's Wharf, and 1 mile from The Breakers. A private parking lot provides one space per room, and an elevator services all three floors.

Pros

Named after the famous English Admiral who commanded Darwin's H.M. Beagle expedition

Features an antique Admiral Fitzroy Barometer displayed in the lobby

Walking distance to Newport's main attractions and restaurants

Free on-site parking included with each room

Cons

Limited to one parking space per room

28 miles distance from T.F. Green Airport

“What struck me most was the convenience of free parking in downtown Newport, a genuine advantage. While the rooms lean toward a more dated style, with bathrooms that have seen updates, the rooftop patio and friendly staff, especially Jennifer, stood out-I believe that if you value location and service over modern aesthetics, this could be a perfect choice.”
